Ceiling Sound Absorption
Ceiling Sound Absorption can effectively reduce echo and reverberation in workspaces. This is particularly important in minimalist environments where furnishings are sparse, or where ceilings are higher than average. Browse our range of sound absorbing ceiling tiles, canopies, rafts, baffles and lighting which offer impressive acoustic absorption and unique design features.
Other Sound Absorbing Solutions Available:
Acoustic Sound Absorbing Ceiling Tiles
Perfect for office, education and healthcare applications, Sound Absorbing Ceiling Tiles are an effective, yet minimal, way of reducing sound reverberation. Ceiling Tiles achieve a clean look and are perfect for applications which already utilise a suspended ceiling system.
Canopies & Rafts
Canopies and Rafts are a unique Sound Absorbing Solution. They are designed to be suspended from the ceiling offering an effective sound absorbing surface. Depending on your design preferences, they can complement bold colour schemes or neutral tones. Canopies and Rafts are perfect for high ceilings and areas where you want to create a functional yet stylish statement.
Acoustic Lighting
This multifunctional solution is a popular addition to creative spaces (or any workplace for that matter!). Incorporate style and functionality with acoustic lighting which is designed to absorb excess noise while illuminating the space where installed.
The key benefits of Acoustic Absorption are:
- Reduces unwanted background noise
- Clarifies wanted noise such as general speech and presentations
- Improved concentration levels as there are less noise distractions
- Creates a comfortable work atmosphere
How do we measure Sound Absorption?
Sound Absorption Coefficient Alpha (αw)
This rating has a value between 0 and 1.00. Zero represents no absorption and 1.00 represents total absorption. Sometimes this value will be presented on a product datasheet simply as its αw value e.g αw = 0.8
However, this value is often referenced against a class value, classifying product performance as a letter from A – E (A being the best absorption). The diagram below shows how these ratings interact with one another:
Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC)
You might also see an NRC value associated with Sound Absorbing products. This is an average rating of how much sound an acoustic product can absorb.
NRC is measured on a scale that ranges from 0 – 1 (zero being no sound absorption and 1 being the maximum absorption).
