Sound Absorbing Furniture
Furniture and furnishings are an integral part of acoustic performance. All materials, whether designed for acoustic use or not, hold sound absorbing qualities. Due to this, manufacturers have developed furniture using high level performing fabrics and materials. From acoustic seating to meeting pods, pinboards to desk dividers, we supply a wide range of furniture which will help you achieve your acoustic goals.
More Sound Absorbing Solutions Available:
Acoustic Indoor Meeting Pods
Indoor Meeting Pods are a compact structure – essentially a small room which is acoustically soundproof. This is a fantastic option for open plan spaces which still require confidential or private areas for meetings, calls and individual work. Not only does this create a multifunctional work space, it is also a flexible alternative to building a new meeting room as the structure can be deconstructed and re-assembled quickly and easily.
Acoustic Seating
Installing acoustic seating is a quick way to enhance acoustic absorption in any room. Choose from different styles and colours to match your interior aesthetic. Acoustic seating often features high backs and sides for added privacy, while being made from a high performance sound absorbing material.
Acoustic Desk Mounted Dividers
The modern office often features shared desking and minimal partitions. While this encourages collaboration and flow, there are sometimes times when a little bit of privacy and individual work space is necessary. Acoustic desk mounted dividers can help you achieve that happy medium. They offer sound absorbing qualities while being a flexible barrier between desks.
Acoustic Floor Standing Screens
Do you want the flexibility to move and rearrange your partitioning screens? Our range of acoustic floor standing screens can help! Floor standing screens are easily assembled and can be moved in seconds. They not only offer privacy and partitioning, but they are made of sound absorbing materials to help reduce annoying background noise reverberation.
Acoustic Suspended Screens
Acoustic suspended screens are a unique sound absorbing solution which offer both functionality and design. The lightweight screens are suspended from the ceiling using wire fixings. The screens are made form high performance sound absorbing material to help you achieve an optimised acoustic environment. Design wise, they feature exciting patterns and are available in a range of eye-catching or neutral colours.
The key benefits of Acoustic Absorption are:
- Reduces unwanted background noise
- Clarifies wanted noise such as general speech and presentations
- Improved concentration levels as there are less noise distractions
- Creates a comfortable work atmosphere
How do we measure Sound Absorption?
Sound Absorption Coefficient Alpha (αw)
This rating has a value between 0 and 1.00. Zero represents no absorption and 1.00 represents total absorption. Sometimes this value will be presented on a product datasheet simply as its αw value e.g αw = 0.8
However, this value is often referenced against a class value, classifying product performance as a letter from A – E (A being the best absorption). The diagram below shows how these ratings interact with one another:
Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC)
You might also see an NRC value associated with Sound Absorbing products. This is an average rating of how much sound an acoustic product can absorb.
NRC is measured on a scale that ranges from 0 – 1 (zero being no sound absorption and 1 being the maximum absorption).
