Floor Sound Insulation
Floor sound insulation works to reduce sound travel through floors as well as preventing impact noise caused by traffic from movement and steps. This is particularly important for office blocks and multistory buildings in which traveling sounds can be distracting and disruptive. Our range of insulating floor solutions suit a range of applications. From hard wearing carpet, perfect for busy offices, to trusted safety flooring, designed for non-slip environments, there are options for every workplace.
Other Floor Sound Insulation Solutions Available:
Acoustic Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT)
LVT is a design-led flooring solution. Due to the range of designs available, you can create the impression of natural flooring such as wood panels and stone, but without the noise and price tag! LVT is not only a hard wearing, attractive flooring solution, it is a fantastic noise insulator, making it perfect for busy environments such as hospitality and restaurants, where design is also a key focus.
Acoustic Safety Flooring
Safety flooring is an essential element of many healthcare and education facilities which experience high foot fall and potentially host vulnerable patients. With non-slip and acoustic qualities combined, acoustic safety flooring can help to create a secure and comfortable environment.
Acoustic Vinyl Flooring
Acoustic Vinyl flooring is a fantastic choice for a range of applications. It’s durability and design features make it ideal for high traffic areas while offering low maintenance and impressive design. It is supplied in sheets, making it ideal for large areas where acoustic control is a concern.
Key Benefits of Acoustic Insulation:
- Reduced noise travel between rooms
- Increased concentration due to reduction of background noise
- Improved sound quality within rooms
- Improved confidentiality
How do we measure Sound Insulation?
Sound Transmission Class (STC)
Most commonly associated with Sound Insulating products, STC is used to measure the effectiveness of materials in reducing sound transmission between rooms. This rating considers the three most common sound frequencies:
- Decibels – Decibels, dB, are a simple measurement of how loud something is
- Frequency – Frequency, by definition, is the measurement of the time or musical note of the sound
- Transmission Loss – Transmission loss in the measurement of the volume (dB) difference on either side of the wall
An STC rating of 20 is considered very poor while a rating of 60 is considered excellent . For example, an STC rating of 20 means you would be able to hear someone speaking at a low volume through that wall. If the same wall had an STC rating of 60 then you would not be hearing that conversation.
