It’s essential to know that wood composite doors with a solid core are non-fire rated and, in various areas of a commercial building, you may need to use a fire rated door.
Although a timber solid door can provide excellent acoustic and thermal insulation, they’re not fireproof or fire rated. Our stock of fire doors (FD30 and FD60), however, are designed to last a minimum amount of time in a fire before it catches alight. There’s no difference in their appearance or how they’re used, but you cannot use a solid core door in areas such as fire escapes.
We always advise that you seek professional advice to ensure you’re adhering to your unique building regulations and correctly protecting your people and your property.
