Perforated Ceiling Tiles
Ceiling Tile Perforations range from pinholes to larger fissures, visible to the eye. While perforated ceiling tiles alter the aesthetics of the ceiling (and may influence design choice), they are generally a popular option due to their acoustic performance. The perforations create a larger surface area within the face of the tile, allowing for an optimised absorption platform for the sound waves to be ‘trapped’ and absorbed within the tile. Perforations can be found across a variety of tiles, including mineral wool and metal, as well as in combination with both textured and smooth tile finishes.
Unperforated Ceiling Tiles
Unperforated ceiling tiles do not feature any surface penetrations. Often, these tiles are for specialist purposes such as metal ceilings or wipeable tiles for healthcare applications. However, unperforated tiles can also be textured, just without additional surface perforations. Unperforated tiles can enhance both aesthetics and performance, with some featuring heightened moisture resistance, bacterial resistance, insulation and light reflectance.
