Do you skim or tape plasterboard?

Both skimming and taping are methods used to finish plasterboard. The choice depends on the desired finish and project requirements.

Taping involves applying joint tape over the seams between plasterboard sheets, followed by a layer of joint compound to create a seamless appearance. It’s a quicker method, ideal for areas where a decorative finish isn’t a priority, such as attics or garages.

Skimming, on the other hand, entails applying a thin coat of plaster over the entire surface of the plasterboard. This provides a smooth, high quality finish, perfect for areas that will be painted or decorated.

At Workplace Interior Shop, we advise considering the purpose of the room and your aesthetic preferences when deciding between skimming and taping. Whatever your choice, we’re here to support your plasterboard needs.
