FAQs

If the delivery is required urgently, assuming in stock, we can arrange a dedicated same/next day courier for an additional charge – please call 01242 395215 for details.

  • How much is delivery?

Certain specialist products may incur extra charges (this will be highlighted at checkout). If you are in need of express delivery, or delivery to non-mainland destinations, please call 01242 395215 for details.

  • How can I track my order?

You can view the current status of your order by logging into your account. We will also keep you updated by email with details of anticipated delivery date.

  • When will I get my order?

Please see specific lead times at the top of the product page. A delivery date will be confirmed 24 hours before delivery. We always aim to get your order to you as quickly as possible and will contact you immediately in the rare case of any delays. If urgent delivery is required, please call 01242 395215 for details.

  • How will my plasterboard tiles be delivered?

For ease of purchase and comparison against other products (all in boxes), they are listed in box quantities. However, due to their weight, these will arrive loose on a wrapped pallet, not boxes. Supplying them like this helps as you can carry smaller denominations with more ease. Sometimes, if quantities are over 200 (600x600mm) or 100 (1200x600mm) there will often be plasterboard sheets on top which act as protectors. It is important to carry the tiles in pairs keeping the white/clean face together.

  • Will my grid support the weight of plasterboard tiles?

Plasterboard tiles weigh approx 6kg/m2. Standard grid systems are able to support 10kg/m2, meaning these tiles can be safely used in a standard grid system which will easily support their weight.

  • Are your tiles fire rated?

All our ceiling tiles are from major brands and are manufactured in accordance with current fire legislation. They have all been fire tested in line with British Law and achieve or exceed the current spread of flame standards that all products must adhere to. Please note that when a 30 or 60 minute fire rating is required, the rating is achieved through a combination of materials from the same manufacturer rather than a singular product/tile.

  • Can I stick the tiles to the ceiling/the wall directly?

No. Suspended ceiling tiles are manufactured specifically for use in a grid system and the material that they are made from is not designed to bond with any form of adhesive.

  • Can I paint the tiles?

No. Painting a tile face will negatively impact performance qualities such as acoustic absorption, humidity resistance, fire rating, and cleanability. There are many manufacturer approved coloured tiles available on the market which are pre-finished.

  • What does 24mm & 15mm refer to?

This refers to the width of the grid the tiles will fit into. Grid systems come in 24mm (standard width) or 15mm (narrow width) as standard.

  • What are the different tile edge types?

    Square Edge
The edge of the tile simply has a 90 degree cut edge, often referred to as a Board edge. These tiles are usually designed for a 24mm grid but can sit in the 15mm grid too.

    Tegular Edge
Tegular edge ceiling tiles are associated with a rebated or bevelled edge to the tile which allows it to sink just below the grid level once installed. It is purely a design feature. Tegular ceiling tiles are usually associated with a 24mm grid. The name ‘Tegular’ can sometimes be used to describe the step edge so check your grid width to be safe.

    Microlook Edge
Similar to Tegular Edge, Microlook (or T15/Tegular 15) ceiling tiles, have a rebated or bevelled edge to the tile. The main difference is the fact that the tile is designed to fit in a 15mm grid. Please check grid width to be safe.

  • My tile is 595x595mm, but your website says 600x600mm?

There are two main sizes of ceiling tile produced on a large scale:600 x 600mm and 1200 x 600mm. However, the actual sizes measure marginally less to fit with the grid: 595 x 595mm and 1195 x 595mm respectively. (Tile sizes vary across manufacturers but most are 595 square). The larger sizes refer to the nominal ‘centre to centre’ sizes of the grid for setting out. The 5mm difference allows for a bit of tolerance to position the tile in the grid whilst fitting.

  • My tile is 1195 x 595mm, but your website says 1200x600mm?

There are two main sizes of ceiling tile produced on a large scale: 600 x 600mm and 1200 x 600mm.

  • What is the tile thickness?

The tile thicknesses range from 6.5 to 40mm, most commonly 15mm. However, the tile thickness is rarely a required performance factor and the variation occurs due to material composition.

  • How much material do I need for a suspended ceiling?

If you are unsure how many tiles to buy, or how much gridwork you need, we have the solution! Visit our material calculation service where you can specify the dimensions of your ceiling. Once you submit your details, a member of our team will be in touch. Alternatively, contact us on 01242 395215 for expert advice.

  • Do ceiling tiles contain asbestos?

This is a common misconception with the mineral fibre composition (compressed recyclable material such as newspaper). Asbestos has never been or will be used by the major brands we deal with.

  • Can I cut a ceiling tile?

All ceiling tiles (except metal) can be cut with a stanley knife and a straight edge e.g. a ruler.

  • How can I pay?

There are multiple ways you can pay for your order. We accept all major credit and debit cards, cheques and BACS payment via Pro Forma. We also offer credit facilities for approved accounts. Please see our Credit Account FAQ for advice on applying.

  • What is a Pro Forma?

If you have received a Pro Forma, this is because you have selected ‘Direct Bank Transfer or Cheque’ at checkout. This means that we have not taken any money from you yet and the goods will not be dispatched until we have received payment. In order to pay, please follow the instructions on the email which accompanies the Pro Forma. If you would like to pay via card, please select pay by card at check out.

  • Can I get a credit account application form?

If you would like to apply for a credit account, please complete & email the following form, along with a letterhead carrying your company details to team@workplaceinteriorshop.co.uk. This will then be reviewed by accounts. Please allow a minimum of one week for this to be processed.

    Credit Application Form

  • How do I order using a credit account?

If you are a credit account holder, follow these simple steps to place your order:

    • Step 1 – Choose your products and add to basket.
    • Step 2 – Go to checkout, enter your address details and PO (purchase order) number, then select ‘Approved Accounts & Public Sector’. Once you have done this, an order will come through to us. If a PO number is not provided at this stage, our team will contact you via email. Your order will be processed only once we have this.
    • Step 3 – Delivery! The terms of the credit agreement are usually 28 days from receipt of invoice unless otherwise agreed with our accounts team.

Fire Tested Ceiling Tiles by Ceiling Tiles UK Important Fire Safety Information

⚠ Warning: Cheap imported products often lack proper UK fire testing, putting safety at risk. Testing is essential and ensures compliance with strict UK standards.

This product carries a UK fire reaction also known as combustibility rating. Whether a tile is right for your project isn't always a simple answer, it depends on the materials involved and how and where they're being used. If your project requires structural fire rating, fire-resistant tiles or fire-resistant ceiling grids do not exist independently, only as a combination of materials from the same manufacturer when installed to a set of standards. If you have questions about fire rated ceiling tiles or structural fire rated ceilings, get in touch and we'll point you in the right direction for specialist advice.
